ERP Project Management

What is ERP?

ERP stands for Enterprise Resource Planning. Essentially an ERP system allows you to run your business on a single integrated software platform rather than having multiple software packages serving each area of the business. Wikipedia has a good definition of ERP including an overview of key concepts.

Why consider ERP?

The following frustrations would lead you to consider implementing an ERP.

  • Poor management reporting (Feel like you are flying blind)
  • Inefficient business processes (many manual steps, far from best practice)
  • Significant time wasted in rekeying information from one system to another
  • Difficulties in keeping the same data accurate in multiple places
  • Numerous manual steps for relatively standard business processes
  • Escalating costs of maintaining interfaces between systems
  • Poor data visibility between functional areas of the business
  • Proliferation of software programs, excel spreadsheets and databases
  • Customer service issues caused by slow or inaccurate information processing
  • Very limited options regarding who can support current business critical systems
  • Concern that current systems will not support the desired growth of the business
